JAVS hybrid courtroom systems capture every speaker on a separate audio channel and pair the audio with HD video of the court session. A remote court reporter logs in through a secure web-based connection and works from the same clear recording an official court reporter would have in the room. The setup supports remote reporting for Zoom hearings, telephonic appearance, video appearance, and other remote court sessions without sacrificing the quality of the verbatim record.

What kinds of proceedings can be handled in a JAVS hybrid courtroom?

Courts use JAVS hybrid technology for arraignments, status conferences, motion hearings, family law and domestic violence matters, non-criminal matters, and a wide range of superior court and federal court proceedings. Witness testimony at trial generally still requires an in-person appearance, but most non-trial proceedings are well suited to remote appearance. The judicial officer sets the rules for each hearing date based on local court reporting standards and any pilot project guidelines in place.

How does a party request a remote appearance?
